The Diagnosis

The Diagnosis

The Appointment That Finally Gave Me Answers.

Walking into that appointment, I didn’t expect much.

In fact, I told him everything—my history, the countless doctors I had seen, all the testing I had done—and I ended it with this:

“I don’t expect to find anything.”

That’s how defeated I was.

But for the first time, I felt like someone was actually listening.

He ordered a full panel—antibodies, hormones, everything.

When the results came back, he asked both me and my husband to come in together. I remember feeling nervous before we even walked in.

Then he said something I’ll never forget:

I was like a car running on three flat tires—and one completely off the rim.

My antibody levels were the second highest he had ever seen.

That’s when I was diagnosed with Hashimoto’s thyroiditis.

I felt fear immediately.

But underneath that fear… was relief.

After more than 20 years of searching, I finally had an answer.

I wasn’t crazy.

My body had been trying to tell me something all along.

I just needed someone willing to look deeper.

→ In Part 4, I’ll share what healing actually looked like—and what I’ve learned living with Hashimoto’s.
